East Germany and Dynamo Dresden legend Hans-Jürgen “Dixie” Dörner.  Like his western counterpart Franz Beckenbauer, Dörner was a libero with great playmaking qualities. Dörner’s highest point came at the 1976 Olympics where East Germany overcame the likes of Spain, Brazil, France, Blochin’s Soviet Union and Lato’s Poland in the final to win the gold medal, scoring four goals in the process.  Dörner is East Germany’s second most capped player behind Joachim Streich.
